An Amazing Discovery!

We are always searching for the best and most economical way to enhance our homes. We
just discovered an unbelievable product that you would never imagine to take the WORST of stains out of carpet.

A client, with brand new carpet, called in hysterical. A child visiting her home on a play date with her grandchild had spilled something that left red, to shades of dark pink stains on her new cream-colored carpet. My assistant overheard us discussing the various carpet cleaning solutions that she had already tried, with no success. He enthusiastically said,
“Hey, I know you would never think of this, but it cleaned a red wine stain and a candle stain (I’ve got another solution for the candle wax stain I’ll write about at a later date) on my home’s carpet, even though it is not listed as the main use.”

The product is from an auto supply and parts store. “Super Tech” Brake Parts Cleaner (just so happened to be the brand we found). BE SURE to get the NON-CHLORINATED versions so as not to bleach your carpet, only remove the stain. She found it at Target and IT WORKED.

I ended up with a very happy client, and learned something new myself.

Energy Efficiency. Does the attic have radiant barrier to keep cooling costs down? How much insulation is in the walls and attic? Is the HVAC unit the right size and S.E.E.R. (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating for the home? Are the windows vinyl and have Low E glass? All of these features can save you hundreds of dollars per month on your utilities.

The best price per square foot is a mobile home with vinyl floors…

However, if you want a nice home with more amenities, the price per sq ft increases with lot size, neighborhood and upgrades.

Standard Building Practices

The truth of the matter is that most people simply rely on the city building code inspectors and standard building practices, but that is not a guarantee of quality results. Their role is to see that building code requirements have been met and that translates to the minimum. They do not govern the quality of workmanship, but you can…and certainly should.

My electricity bill is almost $1300/month in the summer months. Newer, more energy-efficient homes by the same builder are running under $400. Energy efficiency is alive and working in 2011 (by the good guys)
